About Maankoris
Maankoris, which means brain/intellect nurturer, will disseminate Somali literature reflecting positive traditional values and norms and encouraging peace and harmonious coexistence among Somalis. Its target audience are Somalis (inside and outside the country), but it should appeal to anyone interested in the use of literature and culture for instilling peace and harmonious coexistence.
Our Aim is to:- To inform & educate Somalis about Somali culture (traditional norms & values) and literature (poetry, songs, plays, proverbs & sayings, folktales, stories and articles)
- To inspire Somalis to compose/write new poetry, plays and stories reflecting their experiences or providing advice on way forward
- To remind Somalis about their culture & heritage and make them feel proud
- To encourage discussion/forum where Somalis can discuss Somali literature, traditions and culture
- To provide an opportunity for poets, playwrights and memorisers, collectors, critics and analysers of Somali literature to publicise as well as document their composed/written/collected pieces on the website
